III. What You Should Know About Austin Therapy

How are Austin therapists licensed?

To apply for licensure in Texas, therapists must complete an approved master’s degree or a doctoral degree that includes masters-level coursework. After graduating, they have to complete at least 3,000 hours of supervised professional experience. Finally, they must pass state exams to become licensed.

How much does therapy cost in Austin?

The cost of therapy depends on several factors, including whether a therapist accepts your insurance. Not all therapists in Austin work with insurance. Fortunately, however, many therapists do offer a free consultation so you can get a better sense of whether they’re a good fit for you. Some offer a sliding scale to help make therapy more affordable. On average, the cost of a 50-minute to one-hour session in the Austin area is around $170.
