III. What You Should Know About Denver Therapy

How are Denver therapists licensed?

Denver offers a variety of licenses to those in the mental health field, but the most common for professionals offering psychotherapy is the licensed professional counselor (LPC) designation. Earning an LPC license starts with completing an approved master’s degree program, although many continue on to earn a Ph.D. LPCs are required to complete a minimum of 2,000 supervised hours of work experience over two years. At least 1,500 of those hours must be direct experience working with patients.

How much does therapy cost in Denver?

The cost of therapy in Denver ranges between $99 to $164 per session. Be sure to ask about session length when scheduling. Appointments may vary in length from 20 minutes up to an hour. Many Denver mental health specialists accept private insurance, and several offer a sliding scale rate schedule.  Some insurance companies may offer reimbursement for part of the cost of therapy, reducing your out-of-pocket expense.
