Life is challenging and when you add in the stress associated with being LGBTQ+, a woman, a parent or all of the above, life can begin to feel downright overwhelming. Taking care of ourselves isn’t always at the top of the list. Some days, there doesn’t seem to be enough time to cook dinner, never mind nourish an inner sense of well being.
Today can be the day you decide it’s time for change. Maya Wellness Therapy is a psychotherapy practice specifically focused on meeting the mental health and emotional needs of women of all ages, mothers, and LGBTQ parents and families in a gender responsive and culturally informed way.
If you are struggling with depression, anxiety or stress there are very concrete tools and interventions that, together, we can use to get you feeling better so you can get on with your life. If you are a parent, especially an LGBTQ+ parent, an adoptive parent or a brand new parent, you might find yourself coming up against challenges you never anticipated and I have the experience to help guide you and your family to the places you want to be.
If you are a woman who has experienced trauma like sexual, physical or emotional abuse, assault or any type of interpersonal violence, you might find yourself feeling lost, hopeless or on a roller coaster of difficult emotions and reactions. You might be reaching out for substances, sex, relationships or self harm as a way to try and feel better or at least forget for a while. I want you to know, above all, that there is hope. You can feel better. We can work together to help you to feel safe and move beyond a life ruled by the past into one fueled with the energy and connection available to you in the present.
