About Kian Leggett

“I’m not saying we’ll live to see some sort of paradise. But just fighting for change makes you stronger. Not hoping for anything will kill you for sure. Take a chance... You’re already wondering if the world could change. Try imagining a world worth living in, and then ask yourself if that isn’t worth fighting for. You’ve come too far to give up on hope...” -Leslie Fienberg, Stone Butch Blues I’m glad you’re here. Sometimes we get lost on our journey of self-discovery, and sometimes it feels like there’s no one out there who truly understands us or shares the same hopes and fears we do. Sometimes it feels like we never had a path to begin with. Therapy is the process of illuminating that path, and learning how to mindfully decide which road to take. Therapy looks at our values, our strengths, and our areas for change and development. As your therapist, it is my job to walk with you as you journey. To support your goals, and encourage you to reach farther and challenge yourself to expand and explore your unique, wonderful, limitless horizons. Being a trans* and queer-identified social worker and therapist, I am in a unique position to support those exploring their identity and navigating their way through the world. For the past 7 years, I have worked with youth, young adults, families as they work through topics ranging from LGBTQ issues, gender therapy, intersectional identities, intimate partner violence, processing trauma, substance use, to self-harm and managing mood disorders. My practice strives to be nonjudgmental, sex-positive, BDSM/kink/poly-friendly, identity-affirming, and grounded in principles of social justice. In my office, I will meet you where you’re at. Whether you are looking for an LGBTQ therapist, gender therapy, skills building, support getting sober, or an empathetic listener to bounce ideas off of, I’m here for you. We will work together to break down barriers and build skills, checking in along the way. Drawing from different modalities such as DBT, CBT, Relational-Cultural theory and Motivational Interviewing, we will explore different therapeutic approaches together to find out what works best for you and tailor our time together to your specific needs. Remember, you are enough.
