About Maritza Garza-Hogue

Maritza earned a Bachelor of Music Education at North Texas University (2005) and Master of Social Work from New York University (2012). Her professional experience in the behavioral and mental health field includes outpatient and partial hospitalization settings. Maritza is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Prior to formal clinical work, Maritza engaged in community volunteer work in the areas of child advocacy, parental rights, and women’s health. Maritza continues to engage in training to inform and enhance her engagement with her clients and to broaden her knowledge base in the areas of trauma and perinatal mental health. As a behavioral and mental health therapist, Maritza has worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups. She is also experienced in working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples. She specializes in working with adults and adolescents (16+) on issues related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress management, life transitions, trauma, parenting, and relationship and family conflict. She uses an eclectic approach tailored for each of her clients’ unique needs and goals, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma focused therapy, and EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing).
