About Sharon Charlotte Rateau
Sharon is a professional psychotherapist/counselor and complementary health therapist. She is a qualified, experienced practitioner bringing a broad range of expertise to the understanding of stress- related personal, health and work issues. Sharon has been involved in personal development for over 20 years and is a practising meditation and yoga teacher.
Sharon teaches stress management and mindfulness to support her clients in successfully managing stress, she helps clients build resilience, self knowledge and the tools for self-care so they can regain and maintain stable mental and physical health.
These skills create a strong buffer against future difficulties, strengthening self esteem and allowing us to develop our true potential on a foundation of confidence, resourcefulness and flexibility.
Sharon provides treatment in areas such as: addictive behaviours, anxiety, social phobia, panic, worry, depression, anger problems, bereavement, loss, low self esteem, motivation, stress management, childhood abuse, etc. Sharon also works with clients helping them achieve goals and increase motivation.
Sharon has completed numerous trainings to teach mindfulness-based approaches and meditation. She has completed the 8-Week MBSR programme with Jon Kabat-Zinn. Early on she had a particular interest in Buddhism and studied and went on regular retreats. She completed the Mindfulness for life professional 1 year training to teach Adults Mindfulness in Scotland.
As a psychotherapist, Sharon is a graduate of the Tivoli Institute Dún Laoghaire, Dublin. She trained in multiple modalities of psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, CBT and mindfulness-based approaches. She has completed over the years several trainings for professionals with Dr Rick Hanson, PhD (psychologist), of the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley in Positive Neuroplasticity and Practice.
