About Kara Cross

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker with over a decade of experience working with adolescents, young adults, and their families. I earned my Master of Social Work Degree at the University of New England in Portland, Maine, and I have practiced social work in schools, homeless shelters, psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, and in private practice. I am a down-to-earth therapist who approaches each client as expert of their own experience. II specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, burnout, and life transitions. I believe we all have a self healer within us that gives us the capacity to repair our wounds and embrace our whole selves. As an online therapist, I have the tools to help you get in touch with that inner healer. Some examples of approaches I use with clients include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a psychodynamic approach to help clients overcome negative core beliefs and achieve greater emotional and interpersonal well-being. Mindfulness techniques to help clients find physical and emotional grounding. Expressive approaches to help clients access their inner creativity, wisdom, and intuition. Internal Family Systems to help clients embrace their many parts with compassion. Some of the common challenges my clients and I work on together include: regulating emotions; healing from childhood trauma; find authentic meaning in life; and facing the inner critic with mindful self-compassion.
