About Dolores Colgan
I help individuals, couples and families struggling with complex life issues. Relationships, serious and chronic illness, caregiver responsibilities, veteran's readjustment, substance abuse, life stage transitions and workplace stress are some examples.
I treat conditions such as anxiety or depression, and work to prevent more serious problems by getting current ones under control.
I enjoy working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and with adults of any age, seeing their quality of life improve and their anxiety diminish as they become aware of options and adapt positive strategies.
My personal experience of caring for loved ones with life-threatening illness, combat-related stress, and cognitive disabilities has enhanced my ability to understand and empathize with the unique needs of patients, caregivers, veterans and their families.
I have an MSW from the Fordham University Graduate School of Social Services. I am a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the National Association of Social Work. I also serve on the board of the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society for Clinical Social Work.
