About Douglas Baker

My practice is based in mindfulness, mind/body and yoga-based practices, to help clients live with less fear of their thoughts and emotions. I also draw on a mix of other therapy styles, including Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems. I have found that most clients benefit from understanding how mind, body and nervous system interact, and how to "train" them to work in better harmony. I understand the power and complexity of addiction in all its forms, and work from a non-judgmental place to help people recover. I know the 12-step groups well but don't insist on that model.  I also draw on life experience as a parent, 20+ years of professional experience, and my own ongoing self-development work (yoga, meditation, retreats, wilderness therapy, among others). I am informal and open about who I am as a person. I find this work meaningful, fascinating and endlessly enriching. Please feel free to be in touch and ask questions.
