About Calder Kaufman

The origins of our clinic are rooted in service to underserved people in the City of Detroit. We take underlying tenets of fierce advocacy, inclusiveness, and integrity to the entirety of our clinical work. Therapy is not a task taken lightly, but an opportunity to have a deeply meaningful, empathic, effective human connection aimed at producing substantive healing. We offer comprehensive, personalized psychological services including individual, couples, and family psychotherapy and psychodiagnostic testing and evaluation. Rather than approaching treatment from a specific theoretical orientation (for example “cognitive-behavioral” or “psychoanalytic”) we are integrative clinicians. This means we recognize each person who comes to see us is a brand new entity, somebody we really know nothing about. From that place of humility we set aside expectations and let your personal story guide treatment or evaluation. Your unique wishes, beliefs, convictions, and emotions are what dictate how we help you, not some preconceived idea about who you are or how you’ll heal.
