About Matilda Chew

I am a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience in the field of psychology, nursing and energetic healing. Having grown up in a multi-cultural environment, I strongly believe in working with each individual's cultural/ ethnic/ community background, morals and values. In my journey with clients, I bring with me versatility and compassion, and hope to journey together with clients in finding meaning, resolution and personal empowerment. My approach is integrative and person-centered, with a strong focus on humanistic and schema orientations, along with the incorporation of EMDR and mindfulness-based (mind-body-spirit connection) approaches. I strongly believe that each person is unique and deserves to be treated holistically. Therefore, I come to you from the foundation of marrying psychology with spirituality/ energetic pathways and opening the therapeutic space to other suitable therapies should this be brought to our awareness in session. This explains why I am purposefully based in a space that has been created mindfully and lovingly to provide a healing environment. Personally, I have a special interest in palliative care and end-of-life issues across the human lifespan, including death and dying, grief, negotiating losses, psychological impact of chronic life-limiting illnesses, and bereavement. I also have a special place in my heart for journeying with individuals who have experienced or who are experiencing trauma, new migrant adjustment difficulties, life transitions, peri-natal mental health challenges (particularly birth trauma and losses), family-of-origin issues, and LGBTIQ issues. Apart from seeing clients, I am also a board-approved clinical supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia. In my free time, I enjoy practicing yoga, meditation, and spending time around animals and in nature. At this juncture in my life, I am adopted by two beautiful rescued cats who have journeyed with me through various transitions, and who remind me daily about the beauty of unconditional love and unconditional regard.
