About Adam G . Walterbach

My name is Adam Garcia Walterbach, LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). I am a psychotherapist providing counseling/assistance in the Denver, Colorado area. Coming to therapy can be intimidating, for some, as it generally comes with some admittance that things in life aren’t going quite as we planned. It can be helpful to think of therapy as the opportunity to make the desired changes in one’s life to increase our overall well being. Collaboration is key. In essence, the more you share, and the more time you invest, the more I can assist by utilizing my knowledge and training to help you in building the life circumstances that you desire. I find that discussing the past can be useful in understanding our present. What is the present other than the compounded experiences of our past? Calling attention to our past experiences allows us to bring awareness to what has affected us and help determine the direction in which we are heading. While I work with a variety of client issues and concerns, some of my specialties are assisting members of the LGBTQ+ community, navigating work/Denver startup stress, finding meaning and purpose, and breaking intergenerational patterns/behaviors learned from family. I began my journey providing psychotherapy in Los Angeles, CA, and decided to trade in beaches and the endless Summer for green spaces, mountains, and clearly defined seasons (AKA Denver, CO). I received my Bachelor’s in Science of Social Work at Bowling Green State University and then proceeded to obtain my Master’s of Social Work, with a special focus on mental health, at the University of Southern California. While working for an agency in Los Angeles I successfully educated my colleagues on LGBTQIA+ related issues, through the creation of multiple intensive trainings, which resulted in the agency gaining accreditation from the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) All Children, All Families initiative. In addition, I have trained on utilizing candor and transparency in the workplace for the purposes of increasing effective communication and maximizing productivity.
