About Shawn Mcgivern

Hello! My name is Shawn McGivern. I'm a licensed therapists in Massachusetts with 20+ year helping adults affected by stress, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, sleep, eating, and impulse disorders, communication and relationship problems, loneliness, isolation, low motivation, perfectionism, neglect, narcissistic abuse, separation/divorce, and adjustment to life transitions. My style is typically open, warm, empathic, compassionate, curious, humorous, and down-to-earth. With attention to your particular age, culture, values, beliefs, personality style and goals I offer interventions from various modalities including Humanistic, Existential, Psychoanalytic, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior, Jungian, and Drama Therapy, all of which I am happy to discuss with you. In addition to private practice, I have served as a counselor at The Massachusetts College of Art and for 14 years taught Psychology and Writing at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. I hold a Masters in Counseling Psychology and a B.A. in English Literature from Boston College. I welcome clients of all ages and look forward to hearing from you!
