About Jo Ann Young

I am a Licenses Professional Counselor and a Certified Anger Management Specialist who has been in the Behavioral Health field for over 19 years. I chose to pursue a career in the Behavioral Health Field as a result of my need for professional counseling during a challenging period in my own life. Because of the help I received, I decided to change my career path and become a part of the "Caring Profession". My counseling style is personable and interactive. I believe in people's abilities to bring about positive change in their lives if provided with the right support and guidance at crucial intervals in their lives. I enjoy helping people. As a Professional Therapist, I am afforded the opportunity to be a listening ear for individuals in need of nurturing, sympathy, empathy, and emotional support and guidance. I have experience working with survivors of child abuse, trauma, domestic violence, Sex Trafficking, commercial exploitation, and rape. I have experience working with Children and Adolescents dealing with anxiety, depression, divorce, family separation, and blended family conflicts. Also experienced in: Addictions , Relationship issues , Anger management , Self-esteem , Coping with life changes , Compassion fatigue , Abandonment , Adoption and Foster Care , Aging and Geriatric Issues , Caregiver Issues and Stress. My approach to counseling includes the use of a variety of therapeutic modalities, based of the Client's needs and their capacity to engage in the treatment process.
