About Dr. Yehoshua Othniel

I am a Faith-Based Counselor by way of religious vocation and professional training licensed in the State of Kansas with over 13 years experience as a Qualified Mental Health Practitioner. While working towards my Clinical license as a Social Worker the focus of my practice was in Geriatric Psych. I primarily worked with Seniors age 60 years and over. After getting my Clinical level license I began to work with outpatient adults ages 18 to 60. My practice focused on two main issues, Anxiety and Depression. Currently I work full time in Medical Social Work where I sub-specialize in working with patients that suffer from Renal failure. Over the last several years I have gained a great deal of knowledge and understanding the concerns, fears and moods of patients that battle chronic illness and terminal illness. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines liberal doses of humor with cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and to be honest I tend to apply eclectic therapeutic techniques and theories as needed to ach unique individual I am blessed to serve in order to meet their specific needs. It takes courage and a good deal of heavy lifting on the part of my patients to overcome the challenges that life can put in our path. My job is to be present and empower each patient to regain clarity so that they can return to the path they were on or to chose a new path that is calling to them. I can lead you to those still and quiet waters but I cannot make you drink. I hope that you will taste and see all the goodness our Creator has in store for your future. Take my hand and let me be your guide.
