My name is Amberlyn Keller. My education background includes: I have a bachelor’s of science degree in psychology from York College in Nebraska, a master’s of arts degree in Applied Research Psychology from The University of Texas of the Permisn Basin in Odessa, Texas, a second master’s of art degree in School Counseling from University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas and I completed my License Professional Counselor (LPC) classes through Lamar University through online education. I have 13 years teaching experience at all levels of education including special education as well as teaching experience at the college level teaching psychology courses online for five years for Midland College from 2005-2010 as a part-time adjunct teacher. I have been counseling since 2015 when I started to complete practium and internship hours for certification in school counseling followed by hours needed for LPC, respectively. I am fully licensed in the state of Texas as a LPC and have experience working in private practice as well as in a behavioral psychatric hospital. I like to focus on client centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and have a realist approach to counseling. I also believe working through grief and trauma is important in moving forward in life. Mindfulness and yoga practices along with the use of essential oils can help with this. I believe each meeting with a client is a conversation that serves a purpose where the client can talk things out, think things through and grow. I love to work with children and adults and enjoy incorporating physical activity, yoga, deep breathing and mindfulness meditation into counseling sessions. I look forward to working with others and hope to provide a service of counseling that can make a person feel better or at least gain some perspective each time there is a visit.
