About Vicki Zeitner

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon with nearly 20 years of experience helping people manage stress, anxiety, and depressed mood, unexpected life events, losses, and transitions. I can help you improve your relationships and career satisfaction, and to ultimately know yourself better. I've worked with adults in Community Mental Health agencies, outpatient counseling services, and inpatient treatment programs. My life experience spans over 50 years on both east and west coasts, in urban and rural communities. And I spent nearly 15 years in academia, giving me an intimate understanding of college life. I am devoted to cultural, ethnic, religious, gender and neuro-diversity. Everyone is respected, and we all deserve to be here. If you struggle with frequent worry, negativity, low confidence or self-esteem, or confusion about your identity or career, I'd love to talk with you, and believe I can help. Since each person is unique my approach to counseling is eclectic, though I draw mainly from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe that how we talk to ourselves and frame our experience significantly impacts how we feel and approach challenging circumstances. And much of how we think and behave is inherited, imprinted from the significant others and impactful events in our lives. Much of the time this allows us to flow through life with relative ease...until undesirable or unexpected circumstances challenge us. My counseling style is personable, casual and compassionate, accepting and curious. I like to prioritize problems and set goals for our sessions together. I will not simply parrot back what you tell me. I will help you identify your values and strengths, ask questions, offer alternatives, and honor your choices. I may offer some resources to guide you outside of sessions. And because I'm committed to empowering you, I will always be honest, and enjoy sharing what I've learned about mental health. With all of the changes
