About Corey Hinson

I am a licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina with over 8 years of experience as a counselor and mediator. My expertise is in working with people experiencing stressful and difficult conflict in their relationships or life in general. I have education, training, and experience in a variety of therapeutic approaches including, but not limited to solution focused, narrative, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, and trauma informed therapies. I tailor my approach according to each clients' unique goals and needs. As an MSW / LCSW I am obligated to practice within a set of standards and ethics for professional social workers outlined by the National Association of Social Workers' Ethical Standards. These professional and ethical standards inform my practice and will guide my work with you. My general approach is to listen in a way that helps you feel heard and understood. My professional style is engaged, casual, and inclusive. I believe that people deserve to be and to feel heard and that people are capable. All people need and deserve some support - every now and then - to fulfill their capabilities. I'm here to provide you that support without judgment. At first our work will look like me doing a lot of listening and getting to know you, where you're at in life, and what you hope to get out of therapy. If you don't know what your goals for therapy are no worries! The process of building an understanding of who you are will help you get clear about what's important to you. Knowing what's important to you will inform your ideas on how to move your life forward in healthy and fulfilling directions. I will check in with you frequently for your input on progress made and we can always troubleshoot any barriers to your progress. When your therapeutic goals have been met we will talk about next steps in ending our work together. It's important that you feel like working with me is a good use of your time and you may end therapy at any point. My
