About Alexandria Deas

When I started my private practice, I realized that I wanted to serve educated, professional, upwardly mobile people who have their own particular set of challenges that others don’t necessarily notice or recognize. Being the first, the only, the Other, the token, that is a special and rare ordeal that I totally understand. For the first few months, about 90% of my calls came from black professional women who needed to work through issues they’d been carrying around for years and years. Over time, people from various cultures and ethnic backgrounds began to call, but the core concerns were the same: How can I have a relationship with my mom who only thinks of herself; why am I in my third failed relationship; why can’t I accomplish my goals like all the people around me; my family depends on me for everything and I’m tired of it; I feel guilty for the way I acted and I just can’t get over it; am I a horrible, unlovable, person; do I have to always be the strong one… As we worked through these issues, and many more, my clients began to achieve the outcomes they wanted. Together, we did the deep work, the kind that fundamentally changes how you see yourself and the world around you. When I know that my client has gained not only concrete skills, but self-confidence, the ability to be reflective, and the capacity to fully show up in the world, I know we are on to something. Wondering if we should work together? If any of these statements ring true for you, I can help. - you feel stressed out, overwhelmed, and exhausted from people pleasing… - you can’t figure out if you should go or stay in a relationship or job… - you are a chronic overachiever and tired of thinking that your value is based on your performance… - you’re ready to set some much needed boundaries with your loved ones… - anxiety has finally brought you to your breaking point…
