About Lauren Waikart

Hi! I hope you're doing okay, but I would guess that if you're scanning through online therapist profiles, things in your life are not going the way you would like. Something needs to change, and thus far, for whatever reason, you haven't been able to make that change happen by yourself. This is where I come in. I'm here to listen to what's been going on in your life and how you want your life to be different. Sometimes, that may be all you need - someone to truly listen. Other times, I'm here to give you a friendly nudge (or more forceful shove, depending on the circumstances) so that you don't remain stuck in the same place you always stay. Therapy is about change - but it's change on your terms. You set the pace. My background: I am an English-speaking psychotherapist for expats specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, relationship/familial challenges and life transitions. I have worked in a variety of settings to include partial-hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and online telehealth platforms. I am licensed in the state of Maryland as a clinical professional counselor (Maryland- LC8760). I received my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Washington University and my BA from the University of Virginia. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and a military veteran. I was born and raised in the US, but am now living in Kampala, Uganda with my husband and two kids.
