About Jordan White
Hi! I’m Jordan
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Practice Owner at Semicolon Therapy but I am often thought of as an advocate and a passionate and caring listener. My clients experience me as compassionate, professional, and relatable, which combined creates a safe space and therapeutic environment. There’s a place for humor during a therapy session, but when it comes time to get down to business, I pride myself on being an active listener and creative problem solver.
I understand that people are unique in every way and so, I find it important to develop a therapeutic plan to cater to clients’ needs with an aim to work in collaboration to identify the best approach for the individual or couple. I utilize skills founded in evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
I find that life transitions can have a resounding effect on a person’s well-being. Helping clients to find balance and building on personal strengths in order to achieve identified goals becomes important in these moments, as well as understanding the importance of self-confidence. I strive to work with clients to help them understand themselves and their individual and couple natures that can help them through whatever they may face.
I also work with people managing anxiety, depression, and LGBTQIA+ issues to build skills, gain insight, and increase self-awareness. I work to provide a safe space for you to explore these issues and provide the necessary tools to face these issues. I truly believe that everyone deserves a life filled with passion and meaning and strive to help my clients learn to put the skills learned into practice to live a fulfilled life.
In addition, to working with adults individually, I also work with couples and I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, I work with couples in every stage of their relationship, whether they are dating or seeking marital counseling. I also work with couples in non-traditional relationships.
I grew up in Mount Prospect (Chicago Suburbs). I went on to receive my undergraduate degree in Social Work at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. I received my Masters’s Degree in Social Work from Dominican University in River Forest. As a therapist, I have a diverse background and have worked in schools, for Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), a mental health community organization, and a mental health start-up company. These experiences have strengthened my passion to work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, couples issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, and employment-related concerns.
I am a super creative person. I enjoy cooking, reading, decorating, and spending time with my husband and our 9-year-old Corgi mix puppy. When I’m not working I enjoy taking time to travel. I love getting to travel and experience new places and cultures. I am also an avid Peloton rider and have just hit my century (500+ rides). When I’m not able to travel I can be found exploring our amazing city and enjoying all the amazing zoos and museums.
