About Chryssa Charizani

My Credentials My name is Chryssa and I am a licensed psychologist from A.U.TH. in Greece with Master Studies in Social Work from UNIC in Cyprus and Specialisation in Counseling from A.S.PE.T.E. in Greece. My experience is focused on job-career counseling, multicultural populations and individual psychological support and empowerment. In more detail, I studied at the School of Philosophy in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I have a great knowledge of the English language and high level of digital skills, which makes me able to offer my services online. The postgraduation program of master studies in Social Work (MSc Social Work) have enhanced my knowledge and skills concerning Social Science and Social Services as well. Alongside, I have completed a postgraduate program concerning Counseling which has given me the opportunity to get an important amount of experience in Counseling and the way Social Services are organized, functioning and offering counseling in the level that I have become able to offer counseling services without supervision. My internship in a non profit organization during the specific postgraduate program, as well as my experience as a volunteer in non profit organizations, provided me with valuable experience in Counseling, Crisis Management and Provision of Social Services towards socially vulnerable populations. That particular internship inserted me in the position of the psychologist of a european union funded program in that social service that I completed my internship in and in which I volunteered as well. In addition, my previous experience as a psychologist – counselor in a high school tutoring center enhanced my skills and experience in Counseling and Psychosocial Services. Overall, my involvement with socially vulnerable populations has increased my already existing desire to help and offer my services in every way possible. My goal is to listen carefully to what the person has to say and find together the path for them to accept who they want to be and who they truly are in order to achieve the balance between those two. The center of psychological support is the client, their goals and their needs. I am here so I can guide you through the steps that you need to make to meet and become the best version of yourself. My Approach My approach is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in focus on alteration of problematic or malfuntioning for the person cognitive schemes, which apear to negatively affect their way of thinking and behaving/reacting on an inconvinient for them and their important others level. That is the suited approach for me to understand the way the person is perceiving situations in their life, locate the spot that needs alterations and then insert in their existing way of thinking the alternative more affective for them perspective. This specific approach got the wanted results in the cases which I have managed and the people I worked with. They managed to enrich their way of being affected from everyday situations or major life events and their ways of reacting in situations and behaviors with which they were not satisfied before concerning their reactions and behaviors. In addition, whenever is needed, I use tools from other approaches, such as systemic, dialectic, psychodynamic, psychanalytic and/or schema therapy.
