About Stevi Reed

My counseling philosophy can be summarized in the name “Anchored Hope.” Ultimately, I believe the name Anchored Hope is reflection of what I want to convey to clients and the community, and that is HOPE. The name Anchored Hope was inspired by the following scripture: “We have this hope as an anchor of the soul, firm and secure.” Hebrews 6:19 NIV This verse teaches that our hope for healing can be steadfast and anchors us. With this type of hope, we may not always see how the healing will come but we know that it will come through our eyes of faith. To me, counseling is a way to direct people to hope so that they can confidently experience joy and wholeness. Clients describe me as empathetic, encouraging, and challenging. I am committed to showing up to our sessions authentically by being encouraging, but honest and bold when necessary; all while validating your experiences and how they have impacted you. I am also comfortable talking about “uncomfortable” topics and can help you feel at ease when they come up by creating trust, and welcoming the humor and joy that often arises on the journey self-discovery. In our sessions, I want you to understand that I am also invested in my own growth. I don’t believe in expecting my clients to go anywhere I have not gone myself, because I know how hard it can be to really commit to the therapeutic process. Thankfully, I also know that it’s worth it: that the hard work of counseling can result in true life change. Ultimately, my goal is to help clients achieve a steadfast hope in their lives: an anchored confidence in themselves and their relationships, and a firm understanding that they can be “ok” in the face of storms. Counseling does not make life itself better because hard times are inevitable. Instead, I tailor counseling to equip you with the skills and strength to know you can handle challenges as they come; an anchor of hope. This frees you from the worry, pain, and conflict that weighs you down and allows you to make decisions that best align with the hope filled life you deserve. I began my career in counseling after receiving a Master of Education in School Counseling from Liberty University. I am currently a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (#14663), Licensed School Counselor in North Carolina (#1221122) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC #1097272). Prior to opening Anchored Hope Counseling, I worked as a counselor in many settings including schools, Hospice, and ministry. Combined, I have over 11 years of counseling and ministry work with children, adolescents, adults and couples. While I love working with clients struggling with anxiety, relationships, or their faith, I have expertise in helping people of all ages in many different areas; including of self-esteem, depression, stress management, academic/career coaching, behavioral issues, life transitions, grief and loss, and trauma. I believe that counseling is not “one size fits all,” so I use an eclectic counseling approach and tailor each session to the client’s needs; often integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Techniques and play therapy with children. Furthermore, my Christian faith is an important element of how I view the world and I believe that spiritual insights are helpful upon client request for Christian counseling.
