About Jeanine Lategan
I grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. I successfully completed my BA degree in Psychology and Labour relations, with distinction, at the North-West University. I went on to SACAP (South African College of Applied Psychology) where I completed my BSocsci Honours in Psychology.
During my undergraduate studies, I volunteered as a counsellor for my residence as well as participated in community projects as a volunteer. Shortly after completing my Honours degree, I started to volunteer at a Non-governmental organization (Cross Connect Community Outreach). I counselled various individuals who experienced various challenges and struggles such as rape, loss of loved ones, physical and emotional abuse, substance abuse, poverty and many more.
I am passionate about people and their unique stories that they carry with them. My goal is to hold the space for my clients, to feel comfortable and free to express themselves as they please. Active listening, open-mindedness, and understandability are my core strengths.
I acknowledge that the process of attending counselling or therapy might be intimidating, as I have also been on the receiving end of the process. My goal is to ensure that you feel comfortable, acknowledged and at peace in my ‘safe-room’ sessions. I look forward to holding the space for your experiences and stories.
Embark on an exciting journey with me, where we may explore your unique ‘honeycomb’ life, besides, I am not the expert of you, you are.
