About Tiffany O'Toole

Hi, I’m Tiffany O’Toole (she/her) and I’ve been working in the mental health field for 14 years. My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kutztown University and master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Marywood University. Currently, I hold clinical licenses in both North Carolina (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor) and Virginia (Licensed Professional Counselor), where I am also credentialed as a clinical supervisor for provisional LPCs. Additionally, I am a National Certified Counselor, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and have completed a 100-hour Trauma Sensitive Yoga Certification through YogaFit. Lastly, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence based treatment for trauma and other mental health concerns. Most of my professional experience has been working with Marine Corps and Navy service members and their spouses. I have worked as a counselor at Camp Lejeune (in the Community Counseling Program), Quantico (in the Family Advocacy Program), and MCAS New River (as a MFLC). I provided individual, marital and family therapy focused on life transitions, stressors unique to the military family, domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, depression, anxiety, and relationship concerns. In addition to my professional experience, I have five years of experience as a military spouse, which allows me to connect and understand the military community’s issues from both a personal and professional level. My approach is a collaborative one. I do not have the answers to your problems, nor will I tell you what you should do with your life. You are the expert on yourself, your feelings, your relationships, etc. I bring the knowledge, skills and training as a mental health professional and together, we figure out a path forward for you which will decrease your emotional pain and help you live a more satisfying life. As a counselor, I believe it is part of my job to reduce the stigma surrounding counseling and highlight the strength it takes to seek help. I have been on the receiving end of counseling services and know that it takes courage to be willing to dive into your inner self and explore the darkest parts with which we’ve tried to disconnect. I would be honored to join you on this journey.
