About Adrianne Melton

“There’s a part of every living thing that wants to become itself, the tadpole into the frog, the chrysalis into the butterfly, a damaged human being into a whole one. That is spirituality.” Ellen Bass   Hello and welcome! I’m Adrianne. I help people who’ve discovered that they have outgrown the lives they’ve created find the most authentic versions of themselves.   You may have become aware that something deep inside is off, that something important in your carefully crafted life feels suddenly inauthentic, suffocating or small. This imbalance can manifest as symptoms of depression and anxiety, making you feel as though you are both overwhelmed and underwhelmed by your life simultaneously. You may worry that you aren’t being the partner, parent, friend and professional you are capable of, but most importantly you may have begun to recognize that you have neglected yourself. These moments often become a tipping point that can lead to huge life transitions that may feed feelings of grief and a loss of identity. As painful as it can be during those times when you feel that everything around you is falling away, this is fertile ground for growth and an ideal time to seek out counseling.   I particularly enjoy meeting people in this space. I love serving as a compassionate guide for those who are negotiating various life transitions such as developmental/existential/spiritual crises, which may arise during divorce, new parenthood, job loss/change, grief/loss, sexual orientation or identity confusion, or other phase of life struggles.   I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with adults in a variety of settings including emergency rooms, outpatient mental health clinics, schools and inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities. My style is warm and accepting but practical and solution-focused using humor, creativity and gentle confrontation. Together we can help you find some immediate relief, but we can also explore the ways your soul may be trying to speak to you with interventions such as guided imagery, journaling, dream work and other, creative or nature-based practices. Mindfulness and honoring your personal resources/strengths, as well as your individual spirituality, are at the core of many of my interventions including approaches from various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Transpersonal Therapy, and Motivational interviewing. I’m also a Usui Reiki Master with an understanding of the power of energy to shift our perspectives on what’s possible in our own bodies and lives.   I hope to help you access your inner reserves of deeper clarity, empowerment, balance, peace and ultimately, acceptance. Having been through my fair share of such transitions I’m aware of how these experiences will break you, but also how they can be used as a catalyst for the spiritual alchemy of creating something beautiful and whole from the broken, wounded pieces.   Devoting time to your growth and self-actualization isn’t selfish. It’s necessary for both you and your most important relationships and goals. You deserve to finally create a life big enough to hold the growth of your evolution. Feeling seen in a way that you haven’t been before and reconnecting with the most precious parts of yourself isn’t a luxury, it’s your birthright.   If you’re ready to begin creating some internal alchemy in your life and would like an experienced guide on the journey home to your authentic self, you belong here. Let me help you rediscover some magic of your own.
