About Ace Glaspy

I am a licensed professional counselor with over 15 years of clinical experience across a variety of settings including community mental health, crisis intervention, inpatient psychiatric, and addictions. I have practiced with many diverse individuals, and understand that a person's life is a blend of experience, personality, and culture. This understanding leads to a whole person view of treatment, and a belief that everyone has the ability to overcome circumstance and live the best life possible. You are not just a diagnosis and a session fee. You are a unique individual, going through your own set of unique challenges, in your own cultural context. That means you need your own unique plan and method to be successful. There is not a one size fits all approach when it comes to your situation and it is my pleasure to find that path with you. As an eclectic, integrative counselor, I come from a humanistic counseling philosophy. This means that I focus on you as an individual, rather than categorizing  you with others having the same challenges. I look at the whole person, and place emphasis is on your positive traits and behaviors, and the ability to use your personal instincts to find wisdom, growth, healing, and fulfillment within yourself. Techniques Integrative counseling means I use various methods to reach solutions to issues and concerns. While I use various forms of therapy such as Gestalt, Solutions Focused, Reality, REBT and more, three forms I often find myself using the most are: Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT): A mindfulness-based therapy that seeks to not avoid unpleasant experiences, but to create a rich and meaningful life by taking effective action guided by our deepest values and in which we are fully present and engaged. Internal Family Systems/Parts Therapy identifies and addresses sub-personalities or families within each person’s mental system. These sub-personalities consist of the internal critic and self-confidence and painful emotions such as anger and shame, and parts that try to control and protect the person from the pain of the wounded parts. These approaches focus on healing the wounded parts of our internal world and restoring mental balance and harmony. Narrative therapy views people as separate from their problems. This allows some distance from the issue to see how it might be helping or protecting them, more than it is hurting them. Individuals feel more empowered to make changes and “rewrite” their life story for a future that reflects who they are, what they are capable of, and what their purpose is, separate from their problems.
