About Allyse Russell

Coming to therapy takes courage. Since you are here, you are likely ready for change. Painful emotions like anxiety, depression, and shame can leave you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and hopeless. Therapy can help you work through this pain and guide you toward living your best life. My mission is to provide my clients a safe and empathetic space in which we can make progress toward implementing new skills and achieving lasting improvement. My clients describe me as warm, nonjudgmental, relatable, and unafraid to help them grapple with the most difficult of topics. I find these elements to be essential to building and nurturing strong and successful therapeutic relationships. My passion as a therapist is working with preteens, adolescents, and adults to develop strategies and the skills to make sustainable progress toward living a full and rewarding life. I am intensively trained in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and I specialize in working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and the effects of traumatic experiences. I am also particularly well-suited to work with clients who are transitioning back into their home and community following hospitalization and/or longer-term care for psychiatric stabilization. My clients describe me as warm, nonjudgmental, relatable, and unafraid to help them grapple with the most difficult of topics. Before and during the early stages of my career as a therapist, which began in 2015, I gained a wide range of mental health experience pertaining to children, teens, young adults, and their families. This experience includes working with victims of abuse through my roles at Child Protective Services and a non-profit focused on supporting domestic violence survivors, providing mental health services to teens at a residential treatment facility in Atlanta (Hillside), and supporting children and their families as a school social worker at Forsyth County Public Schools.
