About Bruce Borkosky

Dr. Bruce Borkosky grew up in the midwest, specifically Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of 2 teachers. He had an adventuresome spirit early on, so he took a year off between high school and college, living and working in Iran (before the revolution), Germany, and Norway. Norway was definitely the favorite! He returned to Ohio and earned a Bachelor's degree in psychology and music. He flirted with becoming a Dominos Pizza franchisee for a while, but the call of education was louder. So he returned to school and obtained a Master's degree in computer science. After graduation, he worked as a programmer and systems analyst for IBM, where he helped develop PC-DOS (before Windows, for the younger folks!). A difficult divorce led him to psychotherapy, and he learned so much about himself and other people that it was as though shingles fell from his eyes. Determined to bring insight and fulfillment to others' lives, he obtained a doctorate degree in psychology and most of a post-doctorate certificate in neuropsychology. Since then, he has had a private practice in forensic and clinical psychology. Currently, he has a day job in correctional psychology, working as a prison psychologist. He loves psychotherapy so much that he brings his expertise to BetterHelp part-time.
