About Marcel Barton

I am a fully qualified and accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I hold Masters and Bachelors degrees in Person-Centred Experiential Counselling and Psychotherapy, Philosophy and Literature. I am also an experienced Counselling Supervisor, having received extensive training from the University of Nottingham's senior BACP accredited faculty. I have worked with people from all backgrounds with issues ranging from complex trauma, anxiety and depression to PTSD, bereavement and loss. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society, an organisation that practices and maintains the highest ethical standards. As a person-centred therapist I believe that we have a fundamental need to grow towards a more satisfying life of contentment and (hopefully) happiness. Through no fault of our own this fundamental need can become distorted, diminished or even effectively destroyed. This harmful process often (but not always) begins in childhood and without help, it can continue to hold us back in our adult lives. My goal is to work with you to find the way back to growth, satisfaction and happiness. The therapy I offer is non-directive, non-diagnostic and non-discriminating - we work with whatever you need to bring . This type of 'person-centred' approach is extremely beneficial and has proven to be the most effective way of working with mental health issues. You might be worried about the past or maybe you're concerned about what's happening in your life right now. My aim is to help you to move safely beyond the issues that bring you to therapy.
