About Christine Dowling

Each client's unique life experience, personal values, beliefs, as well their strengths are respected and valued within the therapeutic treatment process I follow.  Drawing on over 20 years of counseling experience and more than 30 years as a social worker, I practice a holistic, collaborative approach to working with clients. My professional experience has encompassed working with people from diverse backgrounds, lifestyles, and belief systems. Compassion, respect, and integrity are my guiding principles.

I draw from various theoretical approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, EMDR, and mindfulness to help guide client's toward personal healing and growth. Interactive talk therapy and in-session mind-body activities are used depending on the issue(s) being addressed and the objectives and goals of the individual client. In 2016, I completed a Yoga Alliance certified 200-hour teacher training program in order to enhance my skills in offering breath and body awareness tools to those clients seeking more than traditional talk therapy. I have also completed a basic certification course in Aromatherapy for Health Professionals.

I offer some evening and weekend appointment times to accomodate people's various work/school schedules and lifestyles. A free, confidential phone consultation is available to anyone inquiring about counseling services, having specific questions or concerns, or simply trying to decide if I am a therapist they can feel safe and comfortable working with.
