About Michael Nava

My name is Dr. Michael Nava. In my work, I help my client(s) process, explore, and understand their life-long experiences and current beliefs about themselves and their environment. I help them find their focus, maintain stability, and stay conscious of their lives.  I provide an emotional sanctuary and client-centered therapy to start developing a healthy and supportive environment to help awaken their unconscious and develop insight about themselves, their relationships with friends, family, and significant others.  I help my clients find resolution and peace with their struggles, assisting them in removing barriers to their happiness and success as they characterize it.  My practice modality embraces diversity; providing understanding, empathy and sensitivity to gay and lesbian issues. Currently I am also working for Kaiser Permanente in outpatient Psychiatry as the Clinical Director.  I’m a professor at the University of Phoenix teaching graduate level courses in psychology, clinical assessment and diagnosis, human sexuality and advanced marriage and family therapy. My experience extends from individual, couple, family, children and adolescent issues addressing:  Mood Disorders – Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar; Eating Disorders; Anger Management; Relationships; Parenting; Sexuality - Sexual Identity; Job Stress; Self-Esteem; Personal Growth; Unresolved Trauma; HIV/AIDS – Newly Diagnosed and Quality of Life; Grief/Loss.
