About Carolina Parenting Solutions, PLLC

Introduction to Infant Mental Health

Carolina Parenting Solutions, PLLC, is a group practice of highly trained and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Workers who offer services of Infant Mental Health, Child & Family Therapy, and Parent Psycho Education and Parent Therapy.  All of our services are provided in the client’s home or community setting.  This is based on clinical evidence that a natural setting is the least restrictive and most conducive environment for assessing and treating very young children and their primary caregivers.

Infant Mental Health is the field of study and practice of working with infants, toddlers and very young children and their parents for the purpose of improving emotional stability, emotional regulation, attachment, parent-child reciprocity as well as managing clinical behavioral problems.  The field of Infant Mental Health was developed with the beginnings of psychology and psychotherapy in the form of understanding the impact of parent-child attachment and early life experiences on the forming individual and he negotiates the world around him and his relationships with others.  Infant Mental Health is having a rebirth as the paramount method of early intervention for young children.  What we now know and what is now is supported by international clinical research is that early clinical intervention can alter the long term development and success of a young child and his family system.  Thus, this type of early intervention for emotional, behavioral and/or family functioning can and does reduce the need of mental health or behavioral health intervention in the long term.
