Effective treatment always benefits from diagnostic insight. A neuropsychologist uses assessment tools to complement other methods of information gathering. In this way, I help prioritize, or rule in or out diagnoses which benerfit from treatment. A child may have anxiety, and learning disability. Which should be addressed first? A head injury may exacerbate pre-existing difficulties: how does the intervention approach change? My training is hospital and mental health clinic based. Therapists, and other care-givers may invite assessment when treatment is at a standstill, or when symptoms impact the use and generalizing of therapies. I enjoy working with other caregivers for good "wrap-around" services for children, famillies, teens and young adults. Each referral is carefully screened for the potential value of assessment services, and each testing battery is individually designed.
