About Elizabeth Legg

I specialize in trauma treatment, couples therapy, and consultation/supervision. I frequently use EMDR to overcome the impact of past traumatic events. I have
significant experience working with first responders, veterans, humanitarian
workers, mental health clinicians, and health practitioners whose past experiences are interfering with their current relationships and quality of life. Through therapy, clients reconnect with themselves and with their loved ones,
integrate past traumatic experiences so that they are no longer distressing, feel
empowered and liberated, and increase their sense of purpose and meaning in
life.

In my work with couples, I work from an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) approach to help partners increase their intimacy, trust, communication, and emotional connection. I frequently work with couples who are stuck in repeating cycles of conflict and emotional disengagement. Therapy helps them to understand the cycles they have become caught in as well as their underlying needs and feelings, and to reconnect with one another emotionally to increase intimacy, safety, and trust.

Finally, I provide consultation/supervision to other therapists, including EMDR
consultation. I was trained in EMDR in 2007-2008, obtained my certification in
2011, have conducted significant clinical and research work in the area of
EMDR over the years, and have since become an EMDR Consultant and Trainer.
