About Gail Wintersteiner

The world is a complicated place these days, and having "the good life" isn't easy. In times like these, many people feel overwhelmed and need help to figure out how to feel less stressed - about themselves, their  finances or careers, families, or significant relationships. Isolation and lack of "connection" become the norm, and sometimes this leads to depression, anxiety and frustration. These, in turn, can affect performance in every aspect of one's life. Psychotherapy can often help.

I have been working as a psychologist for many years, and have experience with a wide range of "issues". My personal approach to psychotherapy is eclectic and pragmatic; primarily, I aim for a good "fit" between the approach and a client's needs, desires, and comfort level, and a positive sense of connection..
I am caring and supportive, but also comfortable with anxiety, depression, and anger; I can push people to go "deeper", and to explore difficult areas of concern. I consider my strengths to be empathy, creativity, intuition, and a sense of humor (which I find invaluable!). I am curious and like getting to know people and their histories. I consider the trusting relationship that develops between a client and therapist to be a major factor in "healing"..

I bring a multi-disciplinary approach to psychotherapy: in addition to a doctorate in counseling psychology, I have a PH.D in philosophy and a masters in physics. I taught philosophy part time at Northeastern University, where I interacted with many multi-cultural students. I also have a part time landscaping business (designing, planting and maintaining perennial gardens). These various roles help to keep me "well rounded", and well "grounded".
-I am married, have 2 internationally adopted adult children, a 16 year old grandson,7 year old granddaughter, and 2 cats -all of whom live with us or close by. My office, which is in my home, is accessible via T (green line. In addition to taking most insurance, I have a sliding scale for those without insurance.

In a supportive environment, we can explore together who you are, and who you'd like to be -emphasizing your strengths and resources - and then find the best way to address those concerns which you bring to the therapy relationship. I look forward to meeting you.
