About William Yelen

I have 40 years of experience providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families for a wide range of problems including depression, anxiety, relationship, job and school difficulties, loss, trauma and lifestyle transitions. I see children, adolescents, adults and seniors, accept most insurance plans, and include a sliding-scale fee when indicated.

I have extensive psychodynamic training and my therapeutic orientation is a synthesis of this background with cogintive-behavioral, interpersonal and relational approaches. My work emphasizes the uniqueness of each individual and the belief that therapy is a collaborative process. With empathy, compassion, yet objectivity, I strive to help people gain/regain a positive sense of self and lead more productive, gratifying lives in their relationships and in their work.

I am committed to helping people gain greater understanding of and control over self-defeating patterns of behavior and have considerable experience working with individuals struggling with psychological problems combined with substance abuse-related difficulties. My background also includes many years of work with those suffering from severe mental illness.
