About Jan Marquart

Do you want to heal your past or plan your future? Where is your pain? Where is your desire? I can help you with your stress and distress. My approach is interactive, dynamic, structural, and therapeutic.  I work with couples in conflict, families who have lost their balance, individuals striving for a better life, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, recovery from substance abuse, and other life challenges. I have been counseling since 1979, been in private practice since 1988, and contracted with EAPs since 1981. The need for mental health counseling is a sign that you are ready for further healing and growth. Everything we experience becomes part of who we are. We can let experiences form us or we can make our experiences work for us. Internal strength, maturity, and perseverance take courage. Let me help you along the way.

I help clients understand how their beliefs and reactions to situations are contributing to their problems. Changing our perceptions isn't easy. You know you are on the cusp when therapy gets difficult and you hate it. That is the point of a healing crisis. This is the courageous part.
