About Stephanie Costello

I start therapy with a client by getting to know him/her. I complete a thorough assessment including evaluation for anxiety and depression if indicated; I work collaboratively with clients to set and achieve their goals and help them develop new skills to solve problems and handle stress. Whether it is anxiety, depression, relationships, work/career, or health issues, we will work systematically to make changes. I take a holistic approach which includes looking at health, psychology, and social factors in a client's life. Life style changes may be in order and referral to a physician or an affiliate healthcare provider may be indicated. Spirituality is important and can be addressed if needed. My main therapeutic modality is CBT. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps people examine their thinking, correct thinking errors such as over-generalizing or black/white thinking, and learn to construct new and rational ways of viewing things, which results in improvement in emotions and mood. I also use my training in Family Systems Theory and Employee Assistance counseling to help people achieve their goals. I am available to EAP's for onsite work including Critical Incident Stress Management, trainings and manager consultations.
