About John Meyer
Dr. Meyer has been in practice for many years teaching, consulting in organizational development and clinical practice with individuals in transition, PTSD and families in crisis. He is a member of several national crisis panels including, R3 Continuum and Magellan Critical Incident Stress Management. He has consulted to various organizations such as Procter and Gamble in Canada, International Paper, Air Canada, and numerous EAP panels, such as Invest EAP in Vermont and the United States Postal System.
Dr. Meyer's expertise is integrating psychoanalytical principals in the face to face therapeutic setting and organizational settings. What unconscious forces may be diverting individuals and organizations from reaching their potential? Once some of the unconscious forces are exposed the individual recognizes how personal challenges can get integrated into their work/organizational behavior. Indiividuals bring their unique strengths and vulnerabilities to each clinical session. The focus for this approach is "How can the individual build on their strengths (what is working) vs focusing on vulnerabilities (what is not working)?".
Finally, Dr. Meyer's doctoral research at Boston University studied how Burnout impacted mental health professionals. One of the core issues was looking at how individuals influence organizations and how organizations impact individuals?
