About Norma Myers, LMFT

What is happening in your life right now that made you decide to talk to a therapist? For many people it is that some area of their life has become to difficult bear and they are not sure how to rectify it. The reason for this can be something very clear like a trauma you experienced, or the loss of someone close to you, something you did that you are finding hard to live with, or some major life change. Or the cause may be more obscure and confusing. In either case, making the desired changes in you life can be difficult even when you have made the decision to change. It is like driving down the same road over and over again and each time hitting the tree you wanted to avoid. The problem is the tracks that lead to the tree (both behaviorally and neurologically) are deep and well worn ruts. I help you to build new tracks that miss the tree and get you to where you really want to go. Learning the early signs that you are heading for the tree and figuring out where you want to go instead and help in this process. Once you are no longer hitting the tree and are clear of your road, we begin working on early history that created those tracks in the first place and help to do some deep inner healing.

This healing can be done with you individually, with a loved one and/or in one of the groups I regularly run if anger is one of the things you would like to change. You can find out more about my anger management groups by going to angermanagementsfbay.com. Individual therapy gives you a lot of time to yourself to deeply focus on the issues that are coming up for you. If you find that the primary problems in you life stem for your personal relationship, then couples therapy may provide the best way to work on those issues. Many times the relationship you have with your partner is effected by way your relationship with your parent. I specialize in providing therapy for adult children and their parent/s to try to build new interaction patterns and to heal old wounds. Let me know is I can be of help to you.
