About Barbara Hanson

Barbara has an approach based on client strengths and resiliency. The therapeutic process is constructed to develop effective coping techniques and strategies with the stressors of today's crisis. This framework supports the clients in learning how to create a coping and skills toolbox to meet the challenges of life today and in the future.

Barbara specializes in providing life transition support, grief, loss, and substance abuse counseling for men and women.  As a Tricare Certified Mental Health Counselor, Barbara provided experience and dedication to the National Veterans Center in collaboration with the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing to serve Veterans, Service Members, and their families.

As a counselor at the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing in the RECOVER program, Barbara worked with families through the process of identifying a loved one. RECOVER is a collaborative program with the District of Columbia Medical Examiners Office. This experience informs Barbara's work with clients that have experienced the traumatic loss of a loved one.
