About Lindsey Boes

Something that has always bothered me about stereotypical therapy is how the client is seen as "the problem." I believe everyone deserves to be seen as a person, not a problem. We all do the best we can at the moment and thinking of people as problems does not help anyone, especially the client. I became a therapist to change how people in therapy see themselves and are seen by others. I knew I wanted to be a therapist while I was still in high school. After graduating with my BA in Psychology from Purdue University I worked at my local domestic violence shelter. I got to know the women and children and decided I wanted to work with people who feel trapped and labeled by the system. Shortly after moving to Colorado I was accepted into the Couple and Family Therapy Program at North Dakota State University (NDSU) and moved to Fargo (yes, that Fargo, and yes, I love the movie) to complete my Masters. While I was working on my degree I was the Safe Zone Coordinator for NDSU and spent three years creating and presenting trainings on being an Ally for the LGBTQ community. After I graduated in 2014 I returned to Denver and opened Boes Therapy Services, LLC in August 2015 where I specialize in working with women, relationships, LGBTQ people, and Highly Sensitive People (HSPs). In 2016 I began teaching as an adjunct instructor with the University of Colorado, Denver in the Human Development and Family Research department. I spend my free time reading, gardening, playing with my three cats, doing yoga, talking with family, and doing projects around the house with my spouse. My passions are social justice, learning, and connecting with others.
