About Kirsten Penderis

About Kirsten Penderis My love for psychology and guiding people, began when I started studying Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, 13 years ago. I found the subject interesting and the work meaningful. I am the type of person who loves to help others in reaching their goals as well as assisting in developing skills to cope with their emotions and live their best life possible. Self-development is important for everyone and I am here to assist you with this journey. I have a holistic view towards achieving mental resilience and personal growth. This approach is applied according to my clients' interests, by harnessing their strengths to assist themselves in self-development and growth. I use different therapeutic tools based on theory, for each client because there is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to counselling and life coaching. Counselling is a collaborative process where the role of the counsellor is to guide, mentor and assist the client according to his or her needs. The types of clients I assist include adolescents and adults dealing with a range of personal issues such as trauma, family problems, relationship difficulties and general stressors of life. I also assist athletes and sportsmen/women, assisting with the development of mental toughness in sport, a concept which is often overlooked. This type of counselling can be useful for athletes, sports teams or someone trying to achieve their personal best in a running race, for example. Counselling or life coaching can be beneficial for everyone, because they are aided with an objective outsiders’ view of their situation.
