Why Online Counseling?
I provide on-line therapy with clients in Illinois and with ex-pats working in various capacities (foreign services, business, etc.). Cultural differences, the distance from home, and spousal adjustment are problems that I often work with. Often sadness, loneliness, and work or home related stress can manifest for people. Because I spend a number of weeks each year in South Asia, I understand difficult how difficult it can be, and what ex-pats endure as they acclimate to a new home.
Who Am I?
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois. I hold a master's and a doctorate degree in psychology. I have worked in diverse settings and with individuals, couples, and families. This includes private practice, children's psychiatric hospitals, psychiatric wards, and rehabilitation. I use cognitive behavioral and interpersonal therapy, and sometimes mind-body (clinical hypnosis, biofeedback, mindfulness) techniques. I have a background in the arts, and love working with "creatives." My goal is to help people resolve their problems in as timely a manner as possible, bringing them insight, and peace.
My Approach to Therapy
I work in a collaborative manner with my clients. I spend a lot of time getting to know you, and helping you to feel comfortable with the process of testing or therapy. I may give homework to do in-between sessions. Some people find such activities insightful.
As you consider working with me, please contact me for a free consultation by my phone or email. I look forward to working with you.
