About Thomas Crocker
In the 20+ years I've been a therapist, I come to appreciate the power of the stories we tell ourselves and each other more every day. Our stories help create our mindsets, so they keep us trapped or help move us forward. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I work with individuals, couples and families to see life stories more as stories and less as Reality.
You may have a number of short descriptions for your stories. "I'm depressed." "We have a bad marriage." "I grew up with an abusive alcoholic dad." While these are often mostly true, they keep you focused on things like what went wrong, what you don't have or how hurt you are. They often leave out the strengths you have as well as hope for possible positive and happy futures.
I like to work with people to shift their stories and build new thought, mindset and life habits to develop hope and a better future. Your story isn't you. Your diagnosis isn't you. Your family history or medical problems don't have to define you. It's time for you to write a new chapter and a happier ending for your story.
