About Sebastian Paul

I am a Medical Doctor based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I specialize in Adult Psychiatry and Cognitive Psychotherapy.  I have also undergone training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-based Therapy as well. I offer individual, private patient in-office counselling as well as telehealth consultations. Sessions can be attended in English or in Spanish. Therapy consultation online with me can be done through your own personal choice of any of the various video-conferencing apps available (Skype, Zoom, Whatsapp, Messenger, etc.). Audio-only and text-only sessions are available as well. Telehealth consultations are becoming available on a wider scale, providing better access to treatments and being more convenient by allowing you to choose not only when but also where you prefer to attend treatment from. It is fundamental to me that my treatments always offer a respectul, discrete and private professional counselling experience to my patients. My utmost intention is to be helpful and support them on their lives and mental health well-being. The first step in every one of my treatment plans is fundamental - it involves establishing a safe and helpful alliance with my patient which is crucial for the whole treatment to be successful - aiming for the therapeutic alliance to become a mutually positive and enriching experience. Once this first step are accomplished, my mainstay goal is to get to know my patient better as each session unfolds and advance in ways to offer better aid and support, also helping to identify and bring about solutions to the different issues or problems that they may have or had been experiencing in their past and present lives. All throughout treatment, my main focus is to provide guidance, support and professional advice, basing my interventions, not only on my experience as a therapist, but also on the latest scientific evidence and knowledge available in the fields of medicine and psychotherapy. My academic background includes: - Medical Doctor Degree. Austral University, School of Medicine. Buenos Aires, Argentina (2010). - Complete Medical 4-Year Residency specializing in Psychiatry. Durand Hospital, City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. (2011-2015). - Specialist Degree on Psychiatry. National Ministry of Health (2015). - Specialist Degree in Cognitive Therapy - Integrative orientation (CT). Aiglé and UNMP with additional certification from the Ackermann Institute for Family Therapy (New York). (2013-2015) - Postgraduate course on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Foro, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2014). - Postgraduate Course on Mindfulness in Psychotherappy. Foro (2019). These are some of many different problems or reasons for which my patients decide to start treatment for: - Stress - Chronic Worrying - Panic Attacks - Obsessions and Compulsions (OCD) - Social Phobia - Depression - Low Self-Esteem - Insomnia - Chronic Fatigue, Apathy - Difficulties in Relationships - Job Dissatisfaction - Grief and Losses - Feelings of Loneliness and/or Emptiness - Identity and/or Life Crisis - Divorce, Separations - Couple and Family Problems - Problems related to Sexual Orientation and/or Gender Non-Conformity - Chronic Medical conditions (including Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, etc.) The above conditions are just some of the many and unique examples of the various reasons someone might decide to start therapy. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate on contacting me for further information. I'll be glad to hear from you and help you with any doubts and concerns you may have.
