About Alicia Hess

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I believe we all want to be heard and validated and we can enhance ways of expressing ourselves when we seek support. My hope is that in working with you, you will be better able to identify and communicate your needs, and find solutions to difficulties you may be experiencing. I am passionate about helping teenagers and their parents find connection, and address areas of conflict. I enjoy helping parents. No matter what life stage your children are in, I have always found it helpful to have an objective person to process the joys and challenges of parenting. Due to my own experiences of transitions and life changes I enjoy guiding individuals who are faced with wanted or unwanted life transitions. The therapeutic relationship is of great importance in achieving improved well being. I will come alongside you to offer hope and walk with you in whatever area you are needing support in. For the past decade I have provided therapy to individuals in hospitals, schools and an outpatient clinic. These experiences allowed me to work with a variety of clients with differing backgrounds. I worked with individuals with: mood disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and behavioral issues. I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Positive Discipline. I also utilize a variety of evidence-based practices in my clinical approach to providing therapy including Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT) and Motivational Interviewing. Regardless of the particular framework I am using, I always create a trusting and safe relationship with each of my clients. I've been told that I am compassionate, relatable, and safe, which has helped me successfully treat individuals. I continue to seek training to improve myself and my skills to better serve my clients. I received my Masters of Social Work from San Diego State University, and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from San Diego State University.
