About Avis Augustine-Miller
Licensed in both Virginia and Florida, and Certified as a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor by the NBCC, Avis worked in Emergency Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Crisis Stabilization for eight years. In addition to working with patients with a wide range of mental illnesses and evaluating those in crises to determine the need for hospitalization, she has also trained clinicians in assessing and treating depression, anxiety, PTSD and severe mental illnesses, determining suicidality, homicidality, violence and aggression, as well as capacity to volunteer for treatment. Avis is an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Traîner as well as a Crisis Intervention Team trainer and a REVIVE! Trainer to teach the public how to revive victims of OpioId overdose. Avis has also worked in private practice intermittently through the years, finally making it her focus as her passion drives her to provide care for those in the community who struggle to find “someone to talk to” as they work through the transitions of life, events that challenge and difficulties that present.
