About Georgia Gibson
Georgia Gibson is originally from Belize City in Central America and raised in Brooklyn, New York then relocated to Columbia, South Carolina in 1988 when she joined the military. She has been practicing Social Work for 12 years and comes with experience in schools, prisons, hospitals and community-based services.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She has been in the profession since 2008 and practicing psychotherapy since 2011. She is also a State of South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners approved Clinical Supervisor assisting those on the pursuit of clinical licensure.
Georgia has experience working with children, youth, adults, individuals and families using and eclectic approach tailored to the unique needs of the new client using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, along with psychoeducation and mindfulness practice. Her specialties include anxiety and depression, relationship challenges, life stresses, grief and loss, phase of life changes.
Georgia believes change happens when people are given the tools and guidance needed to draw on their own strengths, which allows for them to live a fulfilling life. She is excited and honored to work with the senior population, as they are the reason she is able to work in this wonderful profession!
